:: Member Expectations ::

Membership

Membership in the Omicron Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi is a privilege.  As a member of Beta Alpha Psi, you are expected to uphold the highest standards of achievement.  Beta Alpha Psi is a prestigious organization, and as a member you are expected to maintain a high level of academic achievement, to be a positive representative of our chapter and school to the professional community, and to provide service to others.

Meetings

Members are expected to attend our professional meetings.  Meetings are held approximately every other week on Monday nights.  Meetings include a professional speaker presenting a topic pertaining to accounting.  Presentations are followed by a social time where you will have a chance to talk with the speakers and other members.  Meetings are a great place to network with other accounting students and company representatives!

Service

Members are expected to complete service hours with the organization and/or on your own.

For our chapter to be recognized as a superior chapter, each member must complete the following hours during the year (June 1 - May 31):

    Service            12 (one-to-one basis)*
    Professional     12 (one-to-one basis)*
    Other               8 (one-to-one service or professional)
                          32 Total Hours

* One-to-one basis means that hours completed outside of official organization events can only be counted up to one's amount of Beta Alpha Psi hours in the same category (professional or service).  For example, if you have 3 Beta Alpha Psi professional hours and 1 outside professional hour, your total is 4 professional hours.  But, if you have 1 Beta Alpha Psi professional hour and 3 outside professional hours, your total is 2.

Service events are any service activity you participate in.  The best way to get Beta Alpha Psi service hours is to participate in our accounting tutoring program (set up every quarter).

Professional events include activities of a professional nature, including our meetings and other meetings you attend (i.e. Accounting Association, Finance Association, etc.)

All professional and service hours are to be reported to the chapter secretary by the 15th of every month!
