Funding
Available Funding for Student Organizations
The Graduate Programs Office will provide financial support for student organization events that foster community and promote professional development at Fisher. Limited funding is available through the GPO for qualifying events. This is in addition to funding that has been allocated to each student organization through the Office of External Relations, which the GPO has also been charged with administering. Please note - no more than 4 requests will be granted per organization per fiscal year for meals at general meetings (those meetings in which only members are present with no outside speakers).
How to request funds
GPO Funding
Funding is available by request from the Graduate Programs Office. The amount varies from $200-$300 per student organization ($200 for new organizations, $300 for those organizations in existence for over one year).
The student organization must complete the following steps to access GPO funds from the Graduate Programs Office.
- The student organization must complete and submit a Student Activity Request Form to Brent Walton at least 3 weeks prior to the event. The budget summary on the Request Form will need to give a detailed description and accurate quote, and cannot be rounded up figures. Please note the funding source on the request form (ie., GPO vs. Development funds). Please note, to be considered for funding it is required that the student organization have a current bulletin board on the 2nd floor of Gerlach Hall in place, and that the organization be registered through the SOURCE. Failure to submit the form prior to 3 weeks of the event will result in a denial of the request. If the event includes associated travel, additional paperwork will need to be completed at the time of the request.
- At the conclusion of the event, the student organization will need to submit the Student Activity Follow-Up Form, Meal Record Form if your funding was used for food, and original, itemized receipts to Samantha Schnitzer in the Graduate Programs Office to receive a student contribution. Please note that this paperwork must be submitted within 30 days of the conclusion of the event. This information will assist the GPO in keeping accurate records and forecasting future budgets.
Development Funds
Funding is also available from the Office of External Relations, which the GPO has been charged with administering. Unlike the GPO funds, which have a set amount, the funds through the Office of External Relations are determined on an event by event basis by the FSGA (Fisher Graduate Student Association).
The student organization must complete the following steps to access funds from the Office of External Relations through the Graduate Programs Office.
- The student organization must complete and submit a Student Activity Request Form to Lindsay Karas of the FGSA at least 3 weeks prior to the event. The budget summary on the Request Form will need to give a detailed description and accurate quote, and cannot be rounded up figures. Please note the funding source on the request form (ie., GPO vs. Development funds). To be considered for funding, it is required that the student organization have a current bulletin board on the 2nd floor of Gerlach Hall in place, and that the organization be registered through the SOURCE. Failure to submit the form prior to 3 weeks of the event will result in a denial of the request. If the event includes associated travel, additional paperwork will need to be completed at the time of the request.
- After submitting the required request form, the FGSA (Fisher Graduate Student Association) will notify the group of the proposed allocation for the event. The request will then be sent to the GPO for final approval, to ensure that the funding request is in compliance with all University policies. You will be notified by the GPO of final approval.
- At the conclusion of the event, the student organization will need to submit the Student Student Activity Follow-Up Form, Meal Record Form if your funding was used for food, and original, itemized receipts to Samantha Schnitzer in the Graduate Programs Office to receive a student contribution. Please note that this paperwork must be submitted within 30 days of the conclusion of the event. This information will assist the GPO in keeping accurate records and forecasting future budgets.
